'Twas the night before Monday
and all through the coop
the only krazy one stirring
had litter boxes to scoop.
She crept down the stairs
in her sweats and T-shirt
to take care of the kitties
and make sure that no one was hurt.
The kitties seemed fine
just wanting food from some cans
and treats and petting
were part of her plans.
When playtime was over
it became time to scoop
but what she hadn't counted on
was an 18" poop!
The poop was so long
it didn't fit in the box
poor Uno's tummy
must have felt full of rocks!
Peering into the cage
her heart filled with dread,
but she was glad he was alone
so this thing wouldn't spread.
She'd seen it before
but never quite this bad
fear not dear reader,
'twas just round worms he had.
On Frontline, on Droncit
on Strongid and more!
repeat those doses
'til the worms get kicked out the door!
I know people think
putting cat into cages is mean
but we've all learned our lesson
about having to quarrantine!
After some time
he can play with the others
but for now we'll keep him alone
until he gets rid of all those buggers!
Ok, this post I'm sure will prove why they call me the Krazy cat lady. I am going to post pictures of Uno's poop, so don't scroll down if you don't want to see it. I'm also going to put them on the smallest picture size I can, so if you want to see more detail, you can click on them to make them bigger. I think it's important for people to see this. Any "free" cat probably is carrying a load of these in their gut. Any cat that is allowed outdoors is probably got these as well. If your cat found a little present to bring to you and then ate it, it could have these. The worst part is, they can get passed on to people, and can cause humans to go blind. Think of all the little kids playing with barn cats and kittens. It's important to deworm your pets and do a fecal when you visit the vet every year. And just because the fecal was negative, doesn't mean that they don't have worms, it just means that they weren't passing evidence of them. This was his second deworming. Nothing came out the first time. I was shocked to see this tonight. But this would help explain why he was so skinny and anemic. He had fleas, ticks and worms - that's a lot of parasites for one body.
