Return of the Kitty... the continuing saga
Use the force: you will pee in the litter box, you won't pee on the floor, you won't pee in my shoe - too bad Jedi mind tricks don't work on cats.
Annie Oakley must have peed somewhere really interesting because she didn't last through her 2-week-ultimatium that her new mama issued on Monday. I got a call from her today saying that she was on the way to the vet to surrender her. She had called several times for advice and just didn't seem to follow it. She did take her for a urinanlysis in July which was negative, but never had her rechecked. So today I had her tested and she has a whopper of a bladder infection, poor baby! So she'll be run on meds and get better and hopefully have a less stressful home that won't cause her to get another bladder infection. Part of the problem is that the other woman's cats didn't accept her so the poor thing did have some major stress in her life even though her human mom thought the world of her.
In some good news Gandolf got adopted to one of my favorite adoptors of all time! They got a cat from us last year and were thinking about a friend for him and I was lucky enough that they picked one of my favorites! The truly wonderful news is that she wants to start volunteering for us and so I'll keep getting updates on him. He was definitely on my list of cats that I would keep, so I'm glad that he was able to get out of here before I fell for him any more than I already did!
I took a bunch of cats to the vet yesterday. Mary is up to six pounds! She started out just under four pounds, so this is amazing, especially considering that she's had non-stop diarrhea the entire time she's been here. Her fecal was negative so that means that the round worms have been evicted but we have no explanation for the loose stool. So we're starting to think food allergies. She got switched to a new diet yesterday - California Naturals Herring and Sweet Potato from Animal Crackers. So if you shop there, feel free to put some in our donation crate!
My bottle babies went to the vet as well. The three bigger ones got the all clear to go to PetSmart. The two runty ones just look awful. They're much smaller and we even did blood work on one of them and the vet was surprised when it looked normal. Hopefully that means that they're just growing slower and need more time in foster care. I hate it when they get to this age and don't make it. But there's no guarantees. It's so weird how 3 of 5 are perfect and 2 are sickly.
Galadriel got to go too for a recheck for her fecal and it's finally negative! So she is up at PetSmart and will hopefully find a home fast. Poor baby has spent the summer in isolation with only me to keep her company, she'd sure love to be in a real home.
