Eureka!
I was sitting back last night thinking about the pictures I had taken. I had gotten a comment from one of my former photography instructors simply saying "BEAUTIFUL". I replied to her with my criticism of the effort and wished that I could see the black kitten better. He had started out in the middle of the group and was very visible, but this was the shot where all the kittens looked the best. I wished I had changed out the background color so that Grasshopper could be seen, but then I had the EUREKA moment!
Black cats and dogs don't get seen in shelters. This is what we face everyday. So now my less-than-stellar photographic experiment could turn into a public service announcement! Now it looks like I put them on a black backdrop on purpose! Shh, don't tell anyone that I didn't plan it - our little secret.

I had no idea people overlook black cats. I'm drawn to them. 3 of my last 4 have been black.
