Adoptions 12-8-07
Despite the cold drizzle turning over to freezing rain, we had lots of people at PetSmart today. Santa was busy getting his picture taken and holding puppies. We also had some love connections today and sent 4 cats and several dogs home!
Dogs: Joey, Bailey, Petunia, Hannah, Molly Brown, Tanner, Vinnie, Peanut
Cats: Kiara, Frito, Dwight, Sprinkles
Joey is a cute spaniel mix that I helped pick from a shelter. He never made it to the website. I was talking him up to a friend that was thinking about getting a dog and she was eager to get him, so since I know the family we let her foster him until he was healthy enough to be neutered. Now he's all better and gets to stay in his new home!
Bailey & Molly Brown: St. Bernard mixes that hit our website this week and people saw them online and were great homes and got to take their new dogs home today!
Petunia & Hannah: Boston Terrier mixes - 3 are now adopted, 4 are left. I know that the foster mom is looking forward to cleaning fewer poopy puppy papers and those new families picked some icky weather to start housetraining!
Tanner: Border collie/sheltiepoo mix, what a cutie! Too bad I didn't need another dog, this litter is tempting!
Peanut: Chihuahua mix - it was his foster mom's first adoption, but the family had adopted from us before. Poor Peanut was afraid being up at PetSmart, and his foster mom was crying, but Peanut and the young man in the family fell in love instantly. Maybe she'll be ready for another foster soon!
Kiara: One of the grey saints from my post about "the devil made me do it", 1/2 the litter has been adopted now. Hopefully the rest will find homes before Christmas
Frito: beautiful little black and white long haired kitten, we could've adopted him out several times today! So sweet and cute!
Dwight & Sprinkles: My two white kitties that I posted the picture of last week went home together today. Their new mom is younger but loves them! I didn't realize how attached I was until it was time to let them go. I was shaking! There's a couple at home that I'm even more attached to, I'll be a basket case when they get adopted!
The girl scouts were there to help us with Santa pictures and handed out supply drive lists for us. We got lots of litter, food, treats and toys. Enough to last about a week! It's amazing how much stuff it takes to take care of all these guys!
Uno's sponsor came in today, it was nice to meet her in person! She bought me a couple packs of scoopable litter - I go through lots of that! Uno decided that he was not impressed with the new food that I got him. Nor was he impressed with the canned salmon from this morning. He did however like the Fancy Feast that got donated today and scarfed the whole can in no time at all! Who would think that a cat that is skin and bones would still be finicky!
I brought little Dickens to the adoption day. He got lots of attention, but no takers. I'm not sure that he was ready to go home today anyway. He's only been really nice for a couple of days. I'd like a little more socialization under his belt before he goes home. But next week he could stay at PetSmart if he doesn't find a home.
